You might try using a flash as a fill-in to add some details to his face. Many cameras allow setting the flash output so as not to overwhelm the shot. A cute expression of the intimidated child. I hope his father calmed down!

Great expression. Using flash would expose the face without burning the background. But maybe you can play with shadow/highlights and still get a better result.

Photography is all about lighting...you've to make sure you light works well in a white page...it goes well with the story...and has a movie like effect but as a still life style photo you can improve it a bit...keep trying!

The light does need a little adjustment, but not much in my opinion, I think the story carries the image and gives it a nice feeling of fear.
